On Saturday, February 3, 2024, Carl Burnside was honored at the Inaugural Black History Month Honor’s Concert. Mr. Burnside was honored for a lifetime of dedication to his community. More than 300 people from the community were in attendance to show their support and love for Mr. Burnside.
Mr. Burnside has served the School District of Lee County for a total of 38 years. And for the last 25 years, Mr. Burnside has served as the Principal of Dunbar High School. Under the leadership and guidance of Principal Burnside, Dunbar High School is a national and global leader in STEM programs, Microsoft programs, and Math competitions.
Carl Burnside and Barbara Burnside have been married for 38 years. They are very proud of their three children, Chayla, Chayana, and Carl Jr.
Mr. Burnside is also the Minister of Music at Mount Olive A.M.E. Church. Additionally, Mr. Burnside is a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
