Letter from Naples Mayor Heitmann

Naples Mayor Teresa Heitmann

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year! I hope 2025 brings health, happiness, and prosperity to you, your families, and our beautiful city.

As the City Council of Naples reconvenes, I want to assure you that we remain committed to addressing the issues that matter most to our residents, protecting our community, and balancing the interests of residents and businesses in a way that best serves Naples. Last year brought unprecedented challenges, including three hurricanes in three months, but our City has shown incredible resilience. Together, we continue to rebuild, learn, and strengthen our commitment to making Naples better and more prepared for the future.

I look forward to working with the City Council, our City Manager, and dedicated staff to advance projects that enhance the quality of life for everyone. Some of my key priorities for the year include:

Reviewing the Council’s previous decision to cancel the New Year’s Eve fireworks.

Completing the restoration of our beach ends.

Reviewing and updating our land codes with a focus on resiliency, growth management, and preserving our residents’ quality of life.

Initiating the demolition and reconstruction of the Naples Pier.

Advancing the Resiliency and Adaptation Plan.

Implementing critical projects such as the Stormwater Beach Outfall Project.

Maintaining our streets, sidewalks, and landscapes to reflect the pristine beauty of Naples, the “Green Jewel” of Florida.

As we enter this new year, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to City Manager Jay Boodheshwar for his dedicated service to our community. With his departure, we now undertake the critical task of selecting a new City Manager to lead our operations and uphold the values that make Naples so special.

I encourage you to stay engaged and informed. Subscribe to our electronic communications by clicking the link at the bottom of this email. You can always reach me directly at mayorheitmann@naplesgov.com and connect with the entire City Council at council@naplesgov.com. Additionally, I invite you to share your thoughts during public comment at City Council meetings or join me for my monthly Community Conversations event in front of City Hall.

Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful and prosperous 2025.

Many blessings,
Teresa Lee Heitmann
Mayor, City of Naples
