Willie Battle applied for a permit to build a duplex with The City of Fort Myers. The duplex is complete except Willie Battle cannot get a certificate of occupancy because THE CITY OF FORT MYERS DIDN’T RUN A SEWER LINE TO THE PROPERTY.
Willie Battle is losing money every MONTH because he can’t rent the duplex to anyone; because THE CITY OF FORT MYERS won’t issue him a certificate of occupancy because the CITY NEVER ran the sewer line.
Willie Battle is losing money every month because NO elected official with THE CITY OF FORT MYERS has made an effort to help him correct the problem.
Which Ward 2 candidate is going to help solve Willie Battle’s problem?
Which current elected official is going to help Willie Battle?
The one who solves Willie Battle’s problem is the one Dunbar needs to elect, because the entire neighborhood is getting screwed because no one is addressing the needs of Dunbar that directly affect the socioeconomic impact of the residents in the neighborhood. If I’m lying then name one elected black official who is mandating the Small Disadvantaged Business Enterprise/Minority requirements that are in the City of Ft. Myers Charter be met. Case Closed!
It’s bad enough that current elected officials blatantly disrespected Willie Battle by naming the street “The Honorary” Willie Battle Way with a brown background so when he dies all they have to do is remove two (2) screws, take down the sign and Willie Battle is forgotten. When a street name is permanent the color of the sign is green. This is why Dunbar needs to stop electing people just because they grew up with them or know them and elect leaders who are effective and will enhance and fight for the community.
Let’s see if any of the 2024 Ward 2 Candidates will/can help Willie Battle with his problem. Whoever helps Willie Battle get this done needs to be elected to Ward 2.
Why do I say that?… because there was one current black elected official who came and looked at the duplex Willie Battle completed. They even walked around the property, but didn’t do a damn thing to help Willie Battle. Which is why Dunbar needs to elect people who are effective and not elect someone just because they know them or grew up with them.
What percentage of the $330 million for The Greater Dunbar Initiative is going towards the Minority participation goals the government set?
Outside of Tobler’s project for the elementary school; that still leaves over $40 million dollars in contracts that no representative in Ward 1, 2, or 3 have “currently” positioned any minority businesses to secure.
If I’m wrong please list the companies. It’s easy to build a case. Do you have effective leadership that has your best interest at heart? That is the question.
