This time in our nation is a difficult time—election. I actually pray. Lord, please lead me into all truth. You are the truth living inside me and the Holy Spirit leads us into truth. Please don’t let me be deceived. I have to think this is the favorite time for the father of lies, satan. Lies are being told on all sides and in between. I want to urge you and Jesus urges you in Matthew 24:4 “Don’t let anyone fool you.”
Jesus also notes that nations and kingdoms will rise against each other in verse 7. This is also true as kingdom means country, state or territory and you can say the kingdoms (states) rise against each other as some are considered republican or democrat. The nation of America is divided right now in the identity of republican or democrat. As children of God, our identity is in Christ. We are not “of” this world. We don’t even fight physically but spiritually. So, we need to be in prayer and fasting for the candidates, this country and the truth.
I also rest in the fact that God puts people in authority over us. He also has all things in His control and in the palm of His hand. Proverbs 19:21: “We may plan all we want, but it is still the Lord’s plan that will reign.” We know that God is still on the throne and nothing exists outside His control. We don’t need to worry or fear. That is also a tactic of the enemy. To cause fear. As to the government, Romans 13:1 (NIV) states “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.” So when you vote, let God be your decision. Ask Him to guide and lead you into truth and He will.
I have spoken to other pastors and leaders and some feel it is a decision to vote the lesser of the two evils. I also have used the word of God to measure the candidates. Who supports Israel (Numbers 24 :9 Whoever blesses Israel will be blessed, And whoever curses Israel will be cursed), who stands up for justice, who has denied/proclaimed God and more. You are a child of God and the truth sets you free. Your vote matters and ask God to help you. He will never leave you or forsake you. He is not a God of confusion (Job 12:22 He reveals the deep things of darkness and brings utter darkness into the light). God bless and don’t forget to vote.
