This month of May we celebrate mothers. Mothers are influential on their children, husbands and families. Mothers may be the weaker of the genders physically; but they are strong in many other ways. While man was created from dirt, the woman was created from a rib bone. This is not by coincidence as mothers are protectors of the heart. The ribs are also made to protect all the vital organs of the body. God doesn’t do anything by accident or coincidence as that is what women were created to do!
Mothers go through an amazing transformation to have a child. There are changes to the cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, endocrine, urinary and other systems to be able to carry a baby. As a matter of fact, it may be the closest to death a woman will experience in her life. I remember when I gave birth to my daughter, a mother who gave birth in the room next to me died. The risks of childbearing are still a major issue today. Women were also greatly increased in pain for childbirth from the garden of Eden as a result of sin (Genesis 3:16). Even with all the risks, pain and trials; we still are willing to go through it to have the joy of holding our newborn baby. The same is true for Jesus. He was willing to die for us all to have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10).
So women, it is time to rise up. It is time for us to be like the “Mother of Israel” and be “Deborah’s”.
Judges 5:7 – “Villagers in Israel would not fight; they held back until I, Deborah, arose, until I arose, a mother in Israel.”
We need to lead our children, families, communities and even the nations to God. Be strong and courageous. Just like Esther, you were born for such a time as this. You are the intercessor, prophet, pastor, president and general to lead in battle. If you were willing to risk your life for childbirth, help them to become born again into God’s kingdom. God works through women all throughout the Old and New Testaments. He still is today! You are already ordained, you are already fearfully and wonderfully made. Be bold and courageous—like Deborah.
I know you are called. Rise up with me. Happy Mother’s Day and I can’t wait to hear and see what you will do!
